Changing Seasons

The housing market has traditionally slowed down as the evenings get darker and the gardens start to look a little bare, but what has been normal over the last few years?

Covid lockdown, changing work schedules and locations, stamp duty holidays, political and international unrest and a spike in interest rates all combine to make the markets anything but normal. But for some this marks an opportunity to act and regardless of external factors sometimes a move is necessary for personal reasons be it work, schools, health, financial or emotional.

Here at OHS, we’ve noticed an increase in larger country homes coming to market with vendors generally downsizing and an uptick on relocation enquiries especially for the Bath schools.

In other words, the local market is still moving and there doesn’t seem to be a feeling of slow down, albeit activity at the levels seen at the peak of the great Covid escape to the country is a distant memory. Good quality housing stock, correctly priced moves fairly quickly as chain free and deposit rich buyers make their move.
